Brennan Cook / Found Footage: The Making of the Patterson Project

The film blends mockumentary and found footage styles, so it has a fun mix of comedy and realism. And the script was such a perfect schematic for the humor and chaos that every scene felt like it already had a strong heartbeat. Max Tzannes, our director, encouraged us to move freely and improvise within that framework, which kept everything fresh while staying true to the story beats. It’s the kind of rare magic you can’t plan for when the whole ensemble is totally listening and trusting one another. Just kids at the playground kinda vibe. 

I can’t wait for people to get pulled into the weird little bubble we built. It’s fun to see how it resonates with anyone who’s ever attempted to make an independent movie — or any creative endeavor for that matter. How the experience can feel both incredibly rewarding and a horror movie in of itself. I think folks are gonna have a blast riding that wave with us.
